Whether a jam stain accidentally landed on your carpet, your pet is shedding hair, or your wall art is simply a bit dusty - we at studio knot are happy when your home is full of life and, of course, it can happen that your furnishings show a few traces of this.
To help your tufted design objects regain their shine and fluffiness, this article tells you everything you need to know about optimal care.

Basic care
Wool offers many natural advantages – including ease of care. Tufted items made of genuine wool, for example, are antistatic and therefore attract less dust and dirt. Furthermore, the wool fiber has a scale-like surface and contains lanolin (natural wool fat), which makes it harder for liquids and dirt to penetrate.
Breathing new life into your favorite tufted piece is quite simple: Basically, all you need to do is vacuum it on a low setting to remove dust and lint. Alternatively, you can brush it with a soft natural bristle brush.
Although it is unlikely, if individual fibers have come loose, we recommend that you do not pull them out but carefully cut them off.
In winter, you can also place rugs upside down in clean, fresh powder snow and beat them from the back. This not only removes dust and dirt but also helps the fibers stand upright. Afterward, don't leave the rug lying in the snow; bring it inside to dry.
Alternatively, you can gently steam the fibers with an iron at room temperature on a low setting from about 20 cm away. Important: Do a test run next to the carpet first to ensure the iron doesn't drip.

Stain removal
If you have caused a larger stain, here are some tips to tackle it:
Do not let the stain dry, but absorb any liquids immediately with a clean, dry cloth.
First, carefully remove tough stains such as jam or honey with a knife or spoon without damaging the fibers.
Less is more: don't rub (this could mat the fibers), but dab gently – always work from the outside towards the center so that the stain doesn't spread.
Treat with lukewarm water and, if necessary, a little wool detergent. Then rinse with clean water and pat dry thoroughly.
Special care is required with wax residue. First, let it dry completely. Then, you can cool the residue with an ice cube to make the wax brittle, which will then break off the brittle residue. Then, vacuum the stain on a low setting. Cover any remaining residue with blotting paper and carefully iron it into the paper with an iron on a low setting.
No-Gos
Never throw your carpet in the washing machine. This could dissolve the adhesive, which will not only ruin your carpet but also damage your washing machine.
In general, you should avoid using too much liquid when cleaning and also avoid using strong cleaning agents, as these can damage the fiber, color and structure of the carpet.
You should definitely avoid vacuuming with powerful rotating brushes, like those included with some vacuum cleaners specifically for carpet cleaning. These are too aggressive and could pull out individual fibers from the carpet.
