Getting started made easy
First, you should decide on a workshop format and then determine the purpose of your rug. Will it be placed on the floor, hung prominently on the wall, or even a mirror? Imagine the room where your final product will be placed and consider which colors and shapes might work well.
Then you can consider whether you prefer to work figuratively, i.e. in clear images, or abstractly, for example in geometric shapes.
Figurative: Is there a theme that appeals to you—depth, plants, food? For example, you could tuft a strawberry or a deck of cards.
Abstract: Which style appeals to you? Do you prefer clear and structured (like Mondrian, i.e., geometric shapes) or softer, rounded forms (e.g., Bauhaus)?
It's important to note that overly complex and detailed patterns are not suitable. Guiding the machine in particularly tight radii and small angles can be overwhelming, and we want to avoid frustration during the course at all costs!

Tips
Whether you're drawing your own motif or working from a copyright-free template, you can find inspiration primarily on platforms like Pinterest, Instagram, or TikTok. Simply search for terms like "tomato rug" or "abstract mirror rug."
What you should exclude from your search are elements such as:
Font: They are usually quite small given the size of the final product and are therefore not only difficult to tuft but also not easy to read in the end.
Small-scale patterns with fine lines such as a flower meadow with many small daisies, for example - the same challenge as with fonts occurs
Photos: Especially as a beginner, it's not a good idea to start with such a complex motif. The motif would first have to be stylized, like the old "paint-by-numbers" pictures, and even then, it's rather unsuitable for beginners.
Instead, motifs with large shapes and few fine lines are suitable. The fewer small areas you have to recreate, the easier it will be!
By the way, I've put together some more inspiration for you on this Pinterest board to make it easier to figure out which direction to go.

So that we can help you adjust motifs in advance if they aren't yet perfectly suited, please submit your final decision to us for review 7 days before the workshop begins. To do so, simply reply to your booking confirmation email and attach a screenshot or a JPG or PNG file.
This also allows us to give you feedback if, in exceptional cases, a yarn color you need is not in stock and we can work with you to find a solution.
All of these measures serve to ensure that your project can be implemented within the planned timeframe and that you can go home with a beautiful result and a good feeling.
